As part of our customer research, it was identified that a critical period of defection is when a youthful operator is added to a policy. Related to that, as children mature out of a household, Westfield does not often retain their coverage.

In 2009, Westfield started research to develop new product features that address defection and maximize the potential lifetime value of customers. The addition of our next generation discount and the enhancements made to our current discounts (family and defensive driver) are examples of how we are taking steps to create a lifetime value for our customers.

ALL NEW! NEXT GENERATION DISCOUNT
22 to 29 year olds "spinning off" their parents' policy can purchase their own Westfield policy and may receive up to a 10% policy level discount on their auto premium.

ENHANCED! DEFENSIVE DRIVER DISCOUNT
Attending an in class driver education program may qualify customers for up to a 10% discount on their auto insurance no matter what their age is.

ENHANCED! FAMILY DISCOUNT
16 to 18 year old drivers may receive an additional discount of 15%, 10%, and 5% respectively. In addition to an increased discount, the eligibility requirement has been reduced from 5 years to 3 years tenure with Westfield and the policy no longer has to be accident and violation free.

As we launch young driver discounts and continue to promote our teen driver safety programs, we are adding value in an attempt to keep customers during this critical period of defection. We are also engaging young drivers with the goal of establishing a relationship with them so you, as their agent, are more likely to retain them as Westfield customers when they are on their own.
