To combat the problem, every policyholder has the option* of purchasing uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury and sometimes uninsured motorist property damage protection. These options are very affordable and will protect you if one of these motorists causes you damage. To simplify it, when you purchase this coverage you are able to collect from your own insurer the amount of protection afforded in your policy if someone hits you without any (or enough) insurance. Notice the * next to option above -- the coverage is generally so important and such a high value item that we'll include it automatically with almost every policy. In fact, if you review your policy currently and notice that your Coverage D UM/UIM limit is lower than your Coverage A Liability limit, please call us to upgrade now. You have every right to expect other drivers would buy the same amount of protection that you have afforded and your best assurance of this is through UM/UIM protection. |
