Spring has arrived.  April showers are bound to bring May flowers but hopefully they don't bring floods, too. 

The Ohio Department of Insurance has some important recommendations regarding flooding (and protecting yourself financially from resultant damage).

• Most communities can experience a flood after heavy or long-stretches of spring rain.
• A home has 4 times greater risk of being damaged in a flood versus the risk of fire.
• Most flood damage occurs outside of areas labeled as a "flood zone."
• Damage caused by flooding is only covered by flood insurance.  It must be purchased seperate from homeowners insurance.
